Since Covid 19
- Patients will be asked to book appointments by telephone only. No walk in appointments can be accommodated, with the exception of severe trauma to the mouth, or severe swelling.
- When phoning the practice leave a detailed message and we will call you back in between appointments or at the end of the morning or afternoon session. Your call will be logged and dealt with in order, it helps if you leave details on the message such as your preferred time and day of week for appointments and we will slot in the next available suitable time for you until we confirm it with you. For example, specify if you would prefer morning, afternoon, first appointment, lunch time or end of day appointment.
- When booking appointments you will be asked a series of questions regarding your recent medical history, any symptoms of Covid 19, any contact with a case and any other details relevant to Covid 19 and your potential risks.
- People with symptoms of Covid 19 will be asked to defer appointments, or may be referred.
- The times between patients will be increased to allow for a lengthier decontamination of the surgery and the donning and doffing of PPE, in addition to added ventilation of the surgery. We will use this time to consult in advance with patients who have appointments booked thus reducing the time a given patient will need to spend in the clinic. Similarly follow up phone calls can also be made.
- Patients are asked to come just in time for their appointments and not before, you will be asked to wait in your car if possible until you are called. There will no longer be toys or reading material in the waiting room.
- Please come alone or if acting as a guardian or carer please do not bring additional persons other than the patient who requires the appointment.
- Please leave unnecessary clothing and bags in the car or at home.
- Please wear a face mask attending and you may be asked to wear one if you do not have one.
- You will be asked to wash and sanitize hands on arrival and leaving and to avoid touching surfaces.
- Your temperature will be taken on arrival using a contactless thermoscanner, if you're temperature is not normal your appointment may be rescheduled.
- Procedures that are normally carried out using aerosols will be minimised as much as is practicable and alternative options may be offered including temporary and long term temporary solutions to a given dental problem for the duration of the pandemic.
- Dental scaling and polishing may for now be limited to hand scaling.
